PRIESTLY ORDINATIONS AND ORDINATION TO THE DIACONATE IN THE PROVINCE OF ECUADOR
By Communication
On Thursday, 29 June 2023, on the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul, Deacons Jesús Efraín Celi Vera, C.M. and Carlos Arturo Méndez Gamas, C.M. were ordained Deacons. The celebration took place in the parish Medalla Milagrosa, in the city of Quito and was presided over by Mons. David de la Torre, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Quito. In his homily, the bishop emphasised to the ordained the importance of befriending the poor and marginalised, in the same way as St. Vincent de Paul did. He reminded them that, in order to encounter Christ, it is necessary to touch the wounded bodies of the poor, of the men and women to whom they will be sent as servants. At the end of the Eucharist, Father Max Reyes Sanchez, C.M., Provincial Visitor, thanked God for the blessing of the new priests and the new deacon, and also thanked the Province of Peru for the support in the formation of the priests and seminarians of the Province of Ecuador. Finally, he thanked each of the families of the ordained for the dedication of their sons to the Church and the Congregation, and asked all present to continue to pray for them, for all those who have been called and for new vocations for the Congregation of the Mission.
