44th GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2028
“The Little Company in this change of era: what must we be and do?”
From June 19 to July 7, 2028.
Salamanca, Spain
About the logo
The logotype of the 44th General Assembly of the Congregation of the Mission presents a world map shaped like a compass. This graphic choice expresses the idea of direction and journey. The world becomes the direction toward which to look and, at the same time, the concrete place of mission: sanctified in Christ and sent into the world (C 40 §2).
The compass refers to discernment. In a time of rapid and sometimes confusing changes, the Congregation feels the need to rediscover its orientation. It is about choosing which direction to follow, allowing itself to be guided by the Gospel and by the charism received.
The magnetic needle in the shape of a cross, pointing north — a stable point of reference —, is the heart of the logotype. The cross reminds us that the Crucified and Risen Christ is the direction and the rule of our Mission. The cross is not only spiritual orientation, but also a concrete criterion of life and action: service, self-giving, preferential love for the poor, and fidelity to the Gospel even in the challenges of the present time. The Little Company does not lose its way, because its orientation is the cross of Christ, which guides the path in this change of era.
The twelve spheres of the Botón charro, a traditional symbol linked to the city of Salamanca (where the General Assembly takes place), evoke the universality of the Church and of the Little Company. In this perspective, the 12 spheres around the compass and the cross indicate that orientation in Christ does not enclose the community, but opens it to the whole world, thus recalling that the Little Company is universal in heart and in mission.
Assembly Prayer
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided by you. Inspired by this confidence, I too turn to you, O Mother, Virgin of virgins, and though groaning under the weight of my sins,
I dare to appear before your sovereign presence. Do not reject my humble petitions, O Mother of the Divine Word, but rather hear them and receive them kindly.
Amen.
