The Superior General’s Advent Letter 2025 invites us to enter the liturgical season of waiting with an alert heart and a gaze purified by the Gospel. At the school of Saint Vincent, we are called to live a ‘mysticism of charity’ that does not close itself off in sentiment, but opens our eyes to the poor, the discarded, and all those who await a sign of concrete hope.
In these pages, Advent is revealed as a time of conversion of the gaze: allowing ourselves to be reached by the Love of Christ in order to become, in our communities and in our works, a visible sign of his tenderness and justice. The Vincentian tradition is reinterpreted as a demanding and at the same time humble journey, in which prayer, fraternal life and service to the poor are a single response to the call of the Spirit.
We entrust this journey to the intercession of Mary and St Vincent de Paul, so that the Vincentian Family, throughout the world, may renew its missionary zeal and passion for the poor during this Advent, recognising in them the very face of Christ who is coming.
