Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Visitors’ Conference and the General Curia
Batu, Indonesia | 20–25 April 2026

The Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission, Fr. Tomaž Mavrič, CM, together with the members of the General Curia and the Conference of Visitors of Asia and the Pacific, are gathered in Indonesia from 20 to 25 April 2026 for several days of reflection on the life and mission of the different Provinces, Regions, and International Missions: a space for mutual knowledge, listening to the various situations and challenges, and interaction.

In addition to the Visitors, Provincial Councils, treasurers, and provincial secretaries are also participating in the meeting.

The first gathering took place in Malang, at the facility of the Vincentian Secular Institute founded by Fr. Paulus Hendrikus Janssen, CM. The Institute, made up of brothers and sisters, welcomes children and young people with disabilities. After a joyful reception and words of welcome from the Visitor of the Province of Indonesia, Fr. Rudy Sulistijo Stephanus, the Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by the Superior General, Fr. Tomaž Mavrič.

It was very meaningful to begin the meeting of the Asia-Pacific Visitors’ Conference with the General Curia in this place: a place where the suffering of children and young people dwells within the “Alma” mission. After the Eucharistic celebration, we shared lunch accompanied by a musical group of visually impaired young people. A beautiful beginning!

From Malang to Batu, where the Conference of Visitors met with the Superior General, who recalled the eleven points that emerged from the 2022 General Assembly and that mark the Congregation’s path until the next General Assembly in 2028: the identity of the Congregation, vocation culture, vocation promotion, revitalization of the presence of brothers, formation of formators, ad gentes missions, renewal of popular missions, formation of clergy, formation of the laity, revision of parish ministry, and development of the Communications Office.

Participants also met with the General Assistants, the General Treasurer, the General Secretary, the Procurator and Postulator General, and the Director of the Communications Office.

In this meeting between confreres of Asia-Pacific Oceania and the General Curia, there was felt not only a sense of belonging, but also a shared responsibility for the future of the mission. In the diversity of cultures and experiences, a living communion emerged that becomes an evangelizing force. The journey continues, sustained by trust in the Spirit and by the desire to serve the poor and the Church with renewed fidelity.
