Memorial of Blessed Ján Havlík: Texts for Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours

For the memorial of Blessed Ján Havlík, a young Vincentian and martyr of the faith, we are making these liturgical resources available. Attached you will find the texts for Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours to celebrate and pray in community.

On the occasion of the liturgical memorial of Blessed Ján Havlík (1928–1965), a seminarian with vows in the Congregation of the Mission and a witness to the faith unto martyrdom, we are making available two resources for personal and communal prayer. Condemned by the communist regime and tested by many years of imprisonment and forced labor, Blessed Ján offers a radiant testimony of perseverance and interior freedom in the Gospel.

Attached you will find:

  • Mass: proper texts for the Eucharistic celebration (antiphons, collect, prayers, Preface of Martyrs).

  • Liturgy of the Hours: Office of Readings, Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer, with intercessions for the world, the Church and the Vincentian Family, and a reading from Saint Vincent’s Spiritual Conferences on the readiness to give one’s life for the mission.
