Fr. Homero belongs to the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentian Fathers) and until now has carried out his pastoral ministry in Papua New Guinea, serving as pastor of the communities of “Blessed John Mazzucconi” on Woodlark Island and Saint Anthony of Padua in Gusaweta, Kiriwina Island.

Born in Circasia (Quindío, Colombia) on November 17, 1959, he entered the Congregation of the Mission in Medellín and was ordained a priest on November 21, 1987. From the very beginning of his priestly ministry, Fr. Homero was deeply connected to the mission territory of Tierradentro, where he served as pastor, formator, and rector in indigenous seminaries and communities.

His closeness to indigenous and rural communities, together with his extensive missionary experience, has profoundly shaped his priestly ministry. Since 2001, he has carried out missionary work in Papua New Guinea, serving in various pastoral and leadership responsibilities within the Vincentian mission in the country.

The Apostolic Vicariate of Tierradentro, entrusted to the Congregation of the Mission since the beginning of the 20th century, continues its evangelizing mission accompanied by a new Vincentian shepherd.

The Congregation of the Mission gives thanks to the Lord for this appointment and entrusts Fr. Homero’s episcopal ministry to the intercession of Saint Vincent de Paul.
