On 16/05/2025 at the Chancery office of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, in the presence of the Chancellor, Mr Federico Favero, and of the Postulator General of the Congregation for the Missions, Fr Serhiy Pavlish C.M., the two envelopes were opened (the Transunto and the Public Copy), containing the documentation collected during the Diocesan Inquiry into the Martyrdom of the Servant of God Janez Ivan Štrašek, killed in odium fidei in 1947, which ended in the Archdiocese of Zagreb on 26 March 2025.
Now these documents will be bound and after obtaining the juridical validity of the enquiry and appointing the rapporteur, they will move on to the drafting of the Positio that will be submitted to the judgement of the Historical and Theological Commission and finally to the Cardinals in order to arrive at the official declaration of Martyrdom.
