Who is Our Lady of Guadalupe?
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, who appeared in Mexico in December 1531. She revealed herself to an indigenous man named Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac. This apparition forever transformed the faith of an entire continent.
How did Our Lady of Guadalupe appear?

When Bishop Zumárraga asked for a sign, Mary responded with a miracle: roses blooming in winter, carried by Juan Diego in his tilma (cloak). On this tilma, the image of the Virgin was imprinted — the same sacred image that remains preserved today in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

The cloak even resisted nitric acid spilled on it in 1791 and a bomb explosion in 1921, without damage to the image. These miraculous qualities continue to inspire devotion and scientific wonder.
