Let us turn the page: the letter from the Superior General that accompanies us beyond the Jubilee

With deep gratitude, we welcome the letter from the Superior General to the confreres, written as the Congregation of the Mission reaches the end of the Jubilee of the Fourth Centenary of its foundation (1625–2025): a time that has united the Little Company throughout the world in prayer, celebrations, reflection and concrete service to the poor.

The central point of the message is clear and, at the same time, demanding: the closing of the Jubilee should not be understood as a farewell, but as a threshold. The grace received does not disappear; it is translated into responsibility. Our gratitude, the Superior General reminds us, becomes a commitment to return to our roots, to serve with humility, to evangelise with boldness, to love the poor with the heart of Jesus: this is the “creative fidelity” that the centenary rekindles and hands on to the present.

To give a visible sign of communion, the letter indicates a shared date: 17 April 2026, when the jubilee season will officially end. Even where other local closings have already been celebrated, the hope is that each Province, Vice-Province, Region and International Mission will experience that day as a unified and recognisable moment, capable of bringing together the different realities of the Congregation in a single breath. In the same perspective, the Superior General announces that, in the coming months, a prayer aid will also be offered to accompany this journey.

There is also a passage that deserves to be preserved and relaunched, because it sets the spiritual tone of the entire letter: ‘We are concluding the Jubilee of the Fourth Centenary, but we are not closing the book of our history: we are simply turning the page.’ The next page, writes the Superior General, is already ready: 2026, the anniversary of the ecclesial confirmation of the Congregation and an invitation to continue ‘in the footsteps of our Founder’ with renewed gratitude. And, in communion with the Little Company throughout the world, the call to renew our ‘here I am, send me’ resounds.

For this reason, we invite all confreres to download, read and share the Superior General’s letter in communities, councils and moments of prayer, and also with the Vincentian Family present in different realities. It is a word that guides, unites and relaunches: so that what we have celebrated does not remain a memory, but becomes a mission.
