THE LITURGY OF THE HOURS

The new Vincentian Liturgy of the Hours renews the daily prayer of the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity. An updated ritual, with the inclusion of the new blesseds and the four-week Psalter. A unique, clear and functional book, designed to facilitate community and personal prayer.

The ritual of The Liturgy of the Hours of the Congregation of the Mission and the Company of the Daughters of Charity in Italian has not undergone any changes with respect to the text already in use, but the texts of the new Blesseds have been included, which, at least in the Italian edition, were still used as inserts. Unfortunately, when Jàn Havlik was beatified on 31 August 2024, the new ritual of the Liturgy of the Hours C.M./F.d.C. had already been published. The Provinces that wish to draw on my work, as I have already written, the graphic design is by Fr. Erminio Antonello, will have the good fortune to include the texts relating to the memory of our new blessed. We Italians, on the other hand, will have to use the insert that I sent on the occasion of the memorial once again.

In arranging the parts of this new ritual, I wanted to make it as functional as possible. So I divided the volume into three parts and an appendix:

The proper of saints and blessed, arranged in alphabetical order.

An Ordinary for certain parts of the Liturgy of the Hours: Invitatory, Benedictus and Magnificat.

The Psalter for the four weeks.

An Appendix:

a) Latin texts

b) Blessing and imposition of the Miraculous Medal.

The important innovation of this new ritual is the inclusion of the Psalter for the four weeks, so that it is not necessary to refer to the Roman Breviary and thus move from one book to another, making the celebration difficult for the elderly and those among us who have difficulty reading.
